2006 + 2011: Prof. Adolf Tuma


  Adolf Tuma wurde am 27. Juni 1956 in Hainburg an der Donau geboren. Seit 1971 arbeitet er bei der oesterreichischen Staatsdruckerei, wo er in der Briefmarkenabteilung eine Lehre als Lithograf gemacht hat und noch heute im Wertzeichenatelier taetig ist. Seine erste Briefmarke gestaltete er 1984 fuer die oesterreichische Post. Inzwischen hat er mehr als 100 Briefmarken gestaltet - neben Ausgaben fuer Oesterreich auch fuer Liechtenstein, Luxemburg, Kuwait und San Marino. Neben dem Briefmarkenentwurf befasst sich Tuma mit der Malerei. In seinen Bildern ist eine staendige Auseinandersetzung zwischen Natur und Mystik zu erkennen. Adolf Tuma, dem 2010 vom Bundesministerium für Unterricht Kunst und Kultur der Professorentitel verliehen wurde, lebt in Haslau-Maria Ellend (Niederoesterreich).
Die "Yehudi Menuhin Trophy" für die schoenste Musikbriefmarke des Jahres erhaelt Adolf Tuma 2011 bereits zum zweitenmal. 2006 wurde er fuer die Gestaltung des Briefmarkenblocks "50 Jahre Wiedereroeffnung Burgtheater und Wiener Staatsoper" ausgezeichnet.

  Adolf Tuma was born on 27 June 1956 in Hainburg on the Danube. Since 1971 he has worked at the Austrian State Printing House, where he was trained as a lithographer in the stamp department. In 1984 he designed his first stamp for the Austrian Post. Meanwhile, he has designed more than 100 stamps - in addition to Austrian issues also for Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Kuwait, and San Marino. In addition to stamp design Tuma is concerned with painting. In his pictures a constant struggle between nature and mysticism can be seen. Adolf Tuma, who was awarded with the title of professor by the Austrian Ministry for Education,Art and Culture, lives in Haslau-Maria Ellend (Lower Austria).
In 2011, the "Yehudi Menuhin Trophy" for the most popular music related stamp is awarded to Adolf Tuma for the second time. In 2006 he already was awarded for his design of the stamp block "50th anniversary of re-opening of the Burgtheater and Vienna State Opera".
